Transitioning from TRF PRF and CRF apps to Version 3.0.

January 2023

Dropbox connections are wonky for some users.

I asked for us all to move to Dropbox just days ago. Now I’m asking you to connect to Box or OneDrive instead.

The Ask:
Please accept my apology. I let you down. I am trying so hard to make great apps for us to keep our studios flowing with paperless efficiency. My team is solid and dependable. We are making the leap to light speed…then code happens. I did not intend to hurt you, my friends; quite the opposite. No drama, no excuses. I am sorry for the inconvenience.

The Explanation:
In recent messages and social posts, I asked you to disconnect your TRF, PRF, and CRF apps from Google Drive and switch to Dropbox for your waiver uploads.

This worked for most of us but not all. We see thousands of waivers uploading from five countries to these cloud services with no bug reports. Dropbox appears solid from the server side. Uploading to Box is working perfectly, and OneDrive is also.

The Karma:
The iPad in my studio needs a relinking to Dropbox daily. Even for a four-chair studio, this is wicked frustrating. Yet my iPad Pro, which I draw on daily and use for testing our apps, is uploading test waivers to Dropbox by the dozen.

I was flogged by enough angry messages yesterday to know how much frustration I brought to our community. I know how terrified we are together of hurting our businesses and losing our hard-won reputations. And yes, we will ensure in the next version that you are compensated for the waivers you paid for but are ‘wasted.’ And then some.

The Solution:
We will not waste development hours chasing this bug. This is–as you know if you’ve ever built code–the nature of all software development. That code is vanishing soon, anyway. We owe you fantastic new apps and will continue coding those with vigor.

Please connect to Box or OneDrive. Those who have say that waivers are uploading with no problems. For now, your waivers are safe on any of the clouds, and soon we will help you combine them all into one cloud. It’s not hard to do and should take less than 10 minutes at your computer.

One more issue we are hearing from you:
Apple may not be able to update the iOS on your older iPads. This is inevitable for all of us, for every device. It’s not fun, but it’s the nature of tech and the flip side of the massive convenience it brings us. Every device, all of us.

Please realize that our apps do not cause this. Our apps work long after Procreate, Adobe products, or Spotify stop working on old iPads. In fact, we support the oldest iPads and iOS versions that Apple will allow. After all, we invented these apps for your savings and to preserve planetary resources. Tap the links below for awesome, warranted, refurbished iPads on Amazon. We buy them for testing by the bushel.

Again, please switch to Box or OneDrive. Please accept my apology for the delays, the setbacks, and the fear and frustration I have caused you. Reach out to me, please, and I will do what I can to help.

For those of you who are sending kindness and support, I will never ever forget.

Respect,

Conan Lea

We snag renewed iPads like these for development all the time, and they work swell, and they are warranted.
Here’s a guide from Apple to help you choose the model you want. We buy them near the middle-new range to avoid the hassle of replacing them frequently and all the re-setup time. You do not NEED iPads with cellular data, just wifi.
